主要科研領域與方向:
家蠶分子生物學、基因組與功能基因組,利用轉基因等技術進行家蠶品種改良和素材創新等。
科學成就:
一、完成中國家蠶基因組計劃
2004年繪制了6X家蠶全基因組框架圖,負責項目策劃、測序指揮到論文撰寫,以第一作者在Science上發表成果。2008年與日本合作,繪制了家蠶基因組9X精細圖譜,并作為客座編輯組織了Insect Biochem Mol Biol《家蠶基因組特別刊》,以第一作者發表了主題論文。2009年完成了40個蠶品系的基因組重測序和高精度遺傳變異圖譜繪制。發現1600萬個SNP位點、31萬個插入缺失突變和3.5萬個基因組結構變異,發現家蠶由中國野桑蠶而來的馴化為單一事件,并以第一作者在Science上發表成果。
二、建立家蠶功能基因組研究平臺技術
主持構建了家蠶遺傳數據庫SilkDB,成為國際蠶學和昆蟲學領域基因組權威數據平臺;主持研制了世界首張家蠶全基因組Oligo芯片,完成了家蠶10萬條EST測序和32個重要組織、器官的基因表達分析。主持建立了國際一流的基因定位克隆、RNAi、轉基因和基因定向敲除等平臺。整體水平居國際領先,部分成果已發表于PNAS、Genome Bio、Nucleic Acids Res和Transgenic Res等。
三、在重要基因鑒定和功能解析方面有眾多發現
提出了蠶絲蛋白合成、性別決定、免疫調控和發育與變態等為家蠶功能基因組研究中的首要目標并得到國內外同行認可。圍繞該四大性狀,系統鑒定分析了主要性狀相關調控基因3000余個,重點克隆研究了50余個關鍵基因的功能,申請基因專利36余項,在Nat Biotechnol、Plos One、Genomics、BMC Dev Biol、Dev Comp Immunol和Insect Biochem Mol Biol等雜志發表家蠶研究論文超過200篇,影響因子合計逾300分。
四、國際交流與人才培養
多次被相關國際學術會議選為執行主席和特邀報告人,并在澳大利亞國立大學、墨爾本大學等四所知名大學講學。先后主持8個重要國際合作項目。被聘為教育部“長江學者”和“長江學者與創新團隊發展計劃”創新團隊帶頭人,973首席科學家,省部學科及學術技術帶頭人,主持973、863等項目30余個,獲“十一五”國家科技計劃執行突出貢獻獎。先后獲全國五一勞動獎章、光華工程科技獎青年獎、全國優秀科技工作者、中國青年科技獎、全國師德先進個人、全國紡織行業年度創新人物、桑麻紡織科技大獎、重慶杰出貢獻英模和重慶市優秀共產黨員等榮譽和稱號。已培養畢業博士研究生17人、碩士研究生38人,指導留學生2人,他們中先后獲中國青少年科技創新獎、全國“挑戰杯”一等獎、澳大利亞化學感受科學大會“最佳學生獎”等多項獎勵。
