重慶大學計算機學院教授，博士生導師，重慶大學語言認知及信息處理研究所兼職研究員。1996年畢業于重慶大學計算機軟件與理論專業，獲工學博士學位，1999年9月至2001年8月在南非金山大學計算機學院作博士后。重慶市高等學校優秀中青年骨干，重慶市“322重點人才工程”一、二層次人選。
主要從事模式識別、機器學習、自然語言處理與容錯計算等領域的研究工作。

發獲得國家級教學成果二等獎、全國科技進步獎（科技著作）二等獎各1項；重慶市教學成果一等獎、重慶市科學技術進步二等獎各1項。
