現任北京航空航天大學材料學院“卓越百人計劃”特聘教授,中組部“青年****”入選者。2013年擔任美國愛荷華州立大學材料系研究助理教授(Faculty);2009年獲得美國洛斯阿拉莫斯國家實驗室“院長獎博士后研究員”榮譽(比例6/300);2005年獲得德國洪堡基金會“洪堡學者”榮譽;2005年獲得清華大學“優秀博士論文一等獎”和“優秀博士畢業生”稱號。
主要圍繞材料“結構與性能”關系,在硬質和超硬材料、金屬基納米復合材料和能源材料等領域展開深入系統研究。在材料科學領域具有理論計算和實驗工作兩方面研究背景。計算材料科學領域側重綜合運用經典熱力學/統計學理論,分子動力學模擬和第一性原理等先進計算方法對金屬合金體系,氮化物、碳化物、氧化物和硼化物等陶瓷體系的結構、物理性質、力學性能、相變機理和界面行為等進行系統的科學研究。實驗方面側重使用快速凝固、物理氣相沉積及離子束混合等技術進行各種亞穩晶態及非晶態材料制備;應用透射電子顯微鏡和x-射線衍射等技術對材料晶體結構與顯微結構進行表征。迄今發表學術論文70篇(第一作者48篇),被SCI引用1000多次,H因子=20,學術報告20余次。其中包括2篇Phys. Rev. Lett., 10篇Acta Mater.,14篇Phys. Rev. B,6篇Appl. Phys. Lett.,1篇Inter. J. Plasticity,1篇Chem. Mater.,1篇J. Phys. Chem. B等。部分代表性論文如下:
