《英語(yǔ)詞匯教程》（以下簡(jiǎn)稱《教程》）是筆者在多年實(shí)踐的基礎(chǔ)上整理而成的。《教程》在保留詞匯學(xué)傳統(tǒng)的知識(shí)結(jié)構(gòu)基礎(chǔ)上，盡可能融進(jìn)本學(xué)科新的研究成果，著力反映詞匯的新發(fā)展，并首次引進(jìn)了篇章詞匯語(yǔ)義學(xué)的內(nèi)容。本書(shū)的著眼點(diǎn)在于實(shí)用，因此，理論上闡述深入淺出，刪繁就簡(jiǎn)。同時(shí)博采例征，提供豐富的素材。該書(shū)配備了相當(dāng)數(shù)量的練習(xí)題和思考題，以便鞏固學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容，學(xué)以致用。《教程》自1997年問(wèn)世以來(lái)，深受廣大師生的歡迎，先后重印六次。
21世紀(jì)到來(lái)，科學(xué)技術(shù)日新月異，信息知識(shí)瞬息萬(wàn)變。近幾年來(lái)，詞匯學(xué)領(lǐng)域出現(xiàn)了不少新的研究成果。為了緊跟時(shí)代步伐，與時(shí)俱進(jìn)，筆者感到有必要對(duì)《教程》進(jìn)行修訂。本書(shū)把原第三章的某些內(nèi)容獨(dú)立成章，進(jìn)行了重寫(xiě)。第二章新增兩節(jié)，闡述當(dāng)代英語(yǔ)的特征和發(fā)展趨勢(shì)。對(duì)辭書(shū)部分進(jìn)行了較大的改動(dòng)，不僅增加了20世紀(jì)90年代未期和21世紀(jì)前三年出現(xiàn)的新辭書(shū)，還專辟一節(jié)詳盡地介紹四部?jī)?yōu)秀詞典，大增加了該書(shū)的時(shí)效性和實(shí)用價(jià)值。
