《英語詞匯語義關系習得研究》以詞匯語義關系中的兩類聚合關系(同義關系和反義關系)為研究對象，重點探討了中國高級英語學習者對英語中這兩類詞匯語義關系掌握的程度。其具體的研究問題包括：(1)與英語本族語者對這兩類詞匯語義關系的掌握相比，中國高級英語學習者有何差異？(2)是否可以采取深層語義加工的方法，提高中國英語學習者在課堂教學環境下對同義關系的掌握程度？(3)在課堂教學環境下，反義關系的習得呈現何種發展途徑？(4)影響中國高級英語學習者掌握二語中的同義關系與反義關系的主要因素有哪些？為了回答這些問題，作者提出了同義關系與反義關系的可操作定義，并建立了二語詞匯語義關系習得的發展模型。在此框架的基礎上，作者采用數據驅動的方法和實驗的方法對中國高級英語學習者的二語詞匯語義關系的習得進行了定量分析。
