任何時候學習單詞都應該有區分、有重點地學習。而且考研大綱對于不同的考研詞匯往往有不同的要求，比如有的詞只要知其義，有的詞則要求掌握其搭配和用法。復習2016考研英語的考生要區別對待，有側重的復習。

★ ruin

v.毀滅；（使）破產

n.毀滅，崩潰；(pl.)廢墟

【例1】He was convinced that government involvement would ruin the company.他確信政府的干預會把公司毀掉。

【例2】Many ruins of Roman date are to be seen in the south of France.許多古羅馬時代的遺跡可以在法國南部看到。

【同義替換】demolish, destroy, spoil, wreck

【派生】ruination n.禍根  ruinous a.帶來巨大損失的（尤指財務上）  ruinously ad.（財務）損失大地

★ starve

v.（使）餓死，餓得慌，挨餓

【例】AtheroGenics, a cash-starved and debt-laden American bio-tech firm, declared bankruptcy this week. AtheroGenics公司（一家資金匱乏而且債務沉重的美國生物技術公司），本周宣布破產。

【派生】starvation n.挨餓，餓死

★ summon

v.召喚；傳訊，傳喚；鼓起（勇氣），振作（精神）

【例1】At last she summoned sufficient courage to cross over the road.最后，她鼓起勇氣穿過馬路。

【例2】They were summoned as witnesses.他們被傳召為證人。

【構詞】sum（=sub下面）+mon（警告）→私下警告→傳喚

【派生】summons n.（法院的）傳喚，傳票  v.傳喚，傳訊（尤指對指控進行答辯）

★ alter

v.改變，更改；該做（衣服）

vi.改變，變化

【例】He was right in that America was altering with staggering rapidity.美國當時正以驚人的速度發生變化，這一點他沒有說錯。

【同義替換】change, modify

【派生】alterable a.可改變的，可修改的  alteration n.改變，更改  alternate a.交替的，輪流的  v.（使）交替，（使）輪流  alternative n.二選一；供選擇的東西；取舍  a.二選一的

【真題1】An awareness that they were being experimented upon seemed to be enough to alter workers’ behavior by itself.當女工們意識到自己被當做實驗對象時，這種意識本身好像就足夠改變工人們的行為。

【真題2】The key to reforming higher education, concludes Mr. Menand, is to alter the way in which “the producers of knowledge are produced”.梅南德總結道，高等教育改革的關鍵是改變“知識分子的培養方式”。

對抗遺忘最好的方法就是重復，而如何重復將是非常關鍵的問題。單詞按照字母排序可以利用相鄰單詞形成相對完整的記憶鏈，但是完全按照字母排列會使重復的時間跨度相對較大，收效也相對較慢。考生在復習的時候，一定要注意這點，找到更有助于記憶的方法。
