World Cup bidding suspended

世界杯競標推遲

FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke said onWednesday that FIFA would postpone bidding tohost the 2026 World Cup while investigationscontinue into allegations that bribery helpeddetermine hosts of earlier tournaments.

國際足聯(FIFA)秘書長杰羅姆·瓦爾克10日表示，鑒于前幾屆世界杯主辦國的選定程序涉嫌受賄，相關調查正在進行，因此FIFA將推遲2026年世界杯的競標。

FIFA had expected to allocate the 2026 tournament to a host nation in 2017, but it has beenembroiled in scandal since the US indicted 9 top officials on corruption charges last month.

FIFA原計劃于2017年決定2026年世界杯東道國，但自上個月，美國對9名涉嫌腐敗的FIFA高官提起訴訟，FIFA一直丑聞纏身。

Swiss authorities have also opened an investigation into how the 2018 and 2022 World Cupswere awarded.
