這是2002年的一個題目，題目這樣問的：

• 51.The main reason for the latest rise of oil price is ________.

• [A] global inflation

• [B] reduction in supply

• [C] fast growth in economy

• [D] Iraq’s suspension of exports

文章中講到油價上漲原因的地方有三處：

第一段：

1. Since OPEC agreed to supply-cuts in March, the price of crude oil has jumped to almost $26 a barrel, up from less than $10 last December.

第二段：

2. The oil price was given another push up this week when Iraq suspended oil exports.

3. Strengthening economic growth, at the same time as winter grips the northern hemisphere, could push the price higher still in the short term.

根據第二段中的3我們可以排除C;

雖然：fast growth in economy= Strengthening economic growth但是文中明確說了這只是could(可能)的原因而不是已經的原因，更說不上是主要原因了。

這個題目邪門的地方就在于題干中的兩個詞：latest 的 main;

如果看到latest的同學會覺得定位到第二段中的2;

你們會覺得：this week= latest; 于是你覺得D選項從毛孔里面都透露著正確的氣息。

出題人確實很牛，我們總覺得latest=最近，那就是說離現在“最近”有一種時間上的比較;

但是，我們要是查字典就會發現：latest= recently;

也就是說：latest=this week

latest=March ;一段時間都可以叫最近;

所以最近油價上漲的原因有兩個(1和2)

這個時候，main才是最關鍵的詞匯了!

我們需要辨別到底哪個才是“主要原因”;

這個題目由于年代久遠，大家不知道什么是OPEC(石油輸出國國家組織)，當年很牛的一個組織，可以決定油價，而2003年伊拉克戰爭后話語權就被美國佬給打的快沒了。

當年的常識，現在的陌生點;

OPEC減少石油供給對于油價上漲的影響肯定大于伊拉克減少石油供給對于油價上漲的影響了。

所以答案只能是B;

至于A選項，就是沒有談到的了。
