胡春根教授、博士生導師，1985年畢業于華中農業大學園藝系果樹專業；1988年浙江農業大學園藝系（現更名浙江大學農業與生物技術學院）碩士學位；1998年于華中農業大學獲博士學位。2001年3月至2003年3月赴日本國家果樹研究所博士后研究。2003年晉職教授、博士生導師。中國柑橘學會會員、理事，IPGRI國際柑橘種質保存協作組成員，湖北省柑橘學會秘書長。主要研究方向為：果樹花芽分化及果實發育相關分子機理研究、重要經濟性狀相關基因克隆與轉基因利用遺傳改良等研究。主持和參加國家和省部級研究項目16項，其中國家自然科學基金重點項目2項，國家自然科學基金面上項目6項，國家863、948計劃和行業科技專項各2項。在國內外學術期刊發表論文50余篇。已培養畢業碩士生30人，博士生4人.

計劃招收研究生方向及人數：

1.果樹學專業：基因工程與分子生物學方向2-4名，從事果樹花。果實發育相關分子機理解析、基因克隆與利用；果園信息學1名，從事園藝計算機信息采集與控制技術研究；

2.園藝學專業：生物信息學1名，從事柑橘基因組信息研究與發掘。
