常規單詞積累一定要集中在2016考研英語復習的前期，否則到了復習后期無論是2016考研英語閱讀的復習還是翻譯的復習，都會遇到困難。同時，單詞記憶不能只記中文釋義，要掌握其常見用法、固定搭配，并且在能力范圍內利用詞根觸類旁通。2016考研英語對于詞匯的考查主要體現在考生“同義替換”的能力上，也就是考查考生對于語言多樣性的把握，所以考生在背單詞的時候一定要掌握單詞的同義詞。

speculate

vi.思索;推測 v.投機;思索，推測

【例】The IMF is encouraging people to speculate with other people’s money.國際貨幣基金組織鼓勵人們用別人的錢做投機買賣。

【同義替換】ponder, reflect; guess, conjecture, assume

【派生】speculative a.思索的;投機的 speculation n.思索，投機

【真題】But Dr. Uri Simonsohn speculated that an inability to consider the big picture was leading decision makers to be biased by the daily samples of information they were working with.

但是，烏里·西蒙遜博士卻認為，缺乏考慮全局的能力會導致決策者因為每天處理的信息樣本而產生傾向性。

proclaim

v.宣告;表明

【例】His accent proclaimed him a Scot.他的口音表明他是蘇格蘭人。

【構詞】pro-(前)+ claim(呼喊)→在前面大叫→宣告，表明

【同義替換】declare, announce, pronounce; indicate, demonstrate, manifest

【派生】proclamation n.宣布;表明

【真題】Hofstadter says our country’s educational system is in the grips of people who “joyfully and militantly proclaim their hostility to intellect and their eagerness to identify with children who show the least intellectual promise.”

Hofstadter認為我們的教育制度掌握在這樣一些人手中，“他們熱烈而武斷地宣稱他們對學識的憎惡，同時竭力表明他們認同那些在學識方面最沒有潛力的 孩子。”

【例】Moreover, to Hitler’s mind the sparse applause did not do justice to the brilliant performance.此外，希特勒認為，這樣精彩的演出只博得稀稀拉拉的掌聲是不公平的。

【同義替換】bright, intelligent, outstanding

【派生】brilliantly ad.輝煌地，燦爛地

【例】The changes that have taken place in air travel during the last sixty years would have seemed completely impossible to even the most brilliant scientist at the turn of the 19th century.

過去六十年中航空旅行發生的變化，在19世紀之交，哪怕是對最杰出的科學家來說，似乎都完全不可能發生。
