2016考研英語：閱讀中潛伏的因果邏輯

在考研英語閱讀理解中，同學們有時會有這樣的感受，所有的句子看似都明白了，但是一到做題就不會了，或是選錯了。為什么會出現這種情況呢?這是因為同學們在閱讀時往往只重視句子的理解，而忽略了句子與句子之間的聯系，段落與段落之間的聯系。而閱讀考查同學們能否理解篇章結構、上下文之間的關系等能力，也就是說考查同學們能否掌握文章的行文邏輯。本文就來探討一下考研英語閱讀中最常見且最易設考點的一種邏輯關系——因果邏輯關系。

首先，我們來看一下在英語中常用來表示因果關系的詞語。

1. 連詞：so/since/for/therefore

2. 詞組：due to/owing to/thanks to/lead to/result in/be attributed to

3. 名詞、動詞：consequence/reason/cause

看到這些詞，我們就需要注意了，一般來說，上下句之間會有一定的因果關系，試卷也容易在這些地方出題。另外，還有一些比較隱蔽的因果邏輯關系，雖然沒有出現以上這些詞匯，但是在文章內容上仍具有因果聯系。下面我們就來具體看一下。

4. 分詞：-ed/-ing

In just one generation, millions of mothers have gone to work, transforming basic family economics.

此句中，動詞transform的現在分詞短語作句子狀語，表結果。數百萬的母親去上班的后果是改變了基本的家庭經濟狀況。

5. 介詞：with

For much of the past year, President Bush campaigned to move Social Security to a saving-account model, with retirees trading much or all of their guaranteed payments for payments depending on investment returns.

此句中，with引導的獨立主格結構說明了推行saving-account model的后果——退休人員把他們的大部分或全部有保障的報酬變成依賴于投資回報的報酬。

6. 從句：解釋說明

Steelworkers, airline employees, and now those in the auto industry are joining millions of families who must worry about interest rates, stock market fluctuation, and the harsh reality that they may outlive their retirement money.

此句中，that引導的同位語從句說明了現實殘酷的原因——他們會在有生之年花光退休金。

7.句意銜接

During the past generation, the American middle-class family that once could count on hard work and fair play to keep itself financially secure had been transformed by economic risk and new realities. Now a pink slip, a bad diagnosis, or a disappearing spouse can reduce a family from solidly middle class to newly poor in a few months.

第二句具體說明了為什么美國中產階級家庭被經濟風險和新的現實改變了原有狀況。

綜上所述，考研英語閱讀中常常會通過以上七種方式來表明上下文之間的因果關系，大家在閱讀過程中不但要多注意那些明顯的因果詞匯，而且更應該謹慎地去理解和分析那些較為隱蔽的因果關系。只有這樣，我們才能更有效地閱讀文章，從而達到準確解題的目的。
