圖書簡介
《美國文學》(修訂版)是以2000年出版的《美國文學》為基礎，根據作者這些年在美國文學教學中的實踐經驗和同行專家的一些建議，就美國文學的當代部分補充了大量的新內容，以適應學生的需要。
本書分五部分：殖民地時期、美國革命時期、浪漫主義時期、現實主義時期及現代主義時期。19世紀以前的美國文學只是一些信息的報道和宗教的或政治的宣傳，算不上真正意義上的文學，19世紀和20世紀才是美國文學作為獨立的民族文學形成和發展的鼎盛階段。所以，本書簡略介紹了前兩個時期的文學，用較大篇幅論述了后三個時期的文學。每個時期分為歷史背景、文學和流派特點、作者簡介及重要作品的文體風格和主題思想、重點選文等若干章節，選文后附有注釋和思考題。
